            The maze Runner is the first book in a trilogy written by James Dashner. The reason I have been putting this books down was that I heard the books got worse as the series goes on. However, as the movie just came out in Spain I wanted to read it before went see the movie. I didn’t plan this book for this month, but I saw the trailer and I read it right away. A decision I don’t regret.

            Thomas appears from a box in the ground in the middle of an unknown place, surrounded by unknown people. He doesn’t remember anything about his life but his name, he doesn’t know where he is neither why is he there. The people surrounded him are all kids, and they call themselves gladers, because they live there in the glade. Around the glade there is a maze in which live creatures called grievers, creatures half mechanical half alive which sting is mortal unless they are given a serum. Everything starts changing with Thomas arrival. The day following to his arrival another kid appears, but this time it is a girl, and she carries an awful message: the ending is coming.
The kids there have their own society and they survive there while some of them put themselves in danger running the maze looking to a way to solve the puzzle. Maybe Thomas and the girl were what the Gladers were expecting for the last two years, the final key to solve the maze.

            The maze runner was a nail-biting book. The way it was narrated, following Thomas, made me really connect with him as well as the character he is close to such as Minho, or Chuck. This also made me feel the same unease feeling the Gladers and Thomas were feeling not knowing the reason why they are there, neither what are they suppose to do. I wanted to know more even at the end, as the questions regarding the maze are answered; however the outside world isn’t explained that leaves for mystery for the second book.
It is my personal opinion that it is especially this mystery atmosphere that made the book as intriguing and fast paced as it was. It is the necessity of knowledge that kept those kids running the maze, and you reading the book.
There is only just one thing that really got me on my nerves about this book and it was the language. The kids at the Glade had their own words for swearing. Those words were stupid and at the beginning I couldn’t understand them talking. Once you get used to them it isn’t hard to read anymore, nonetheless it is still really annoying.


            In my personal opinion, the Maze Runner was a highly enjoyable book, which I might have enjoyed better if I was a little younger. Moreover, I think it would make for an amazing movie that I cannot wait to watch. And if you are looking for an action packed dystopian with lots of mystery this is your book.

Half Year Wrap Up and July TBR

Hello everyone, as I said on my update and favorites post I’m sorry I’ve been absent lately. Because of that, I’m not going to do a monthly wrap up, but a middle of the year wrap up. I can’t believe we have already hit the middle of the year, but here we are and I’m four books behind in my goodreads challenge, which is more or less like a month. It isn’t much considering how little time I have had to read, as well as many other things, and considering there were two months in which I didn’t finished one book.  We start with January, the best month reading wise I’ve had in years, I completed a total of 8 books in addition to a novella and a graphic novel. Not only that, I also highly enjoyed most books I read during that month  “Captivated by You” by Sylvia Day. Hunter brings someone to help her out but her solution to things kinds of goes to extreme. Also, Alisa leaves the coven, since all the things happening scared her off. “Strife” was a good book in the series but it got me lost a little bit. They introduced Alisa’s point of view which kinds of puts me off a little bit and all in all it was a little tedious
